Error: “This form cannot process your payment. Please contact the site owner.”

  • Using Gravity Forms and the Gravity Forms + Stripe plugin, upon form submission, the following error message appears: “This form cannot process your payment. Please contact the site owner.”

    There are no errors in the Apache or PHP logs. Stripe is in live mode. Live API keys are entered into the plugin settings. Plugin API mode is set to live. Green checkmarks appear next to all values entered. I’ve verified the live API keys are present.

    In Stripe’s event log, there is a charge attempt, but it’s for a test card (************4242) with no other metadata (i.e. name, address, ZIP, email) included. Stripe returns the error “Your card was declined. Your request was in live mode, but used a known test card.”

    So, it appears this plugin is ignoring the card number the user inputted, sending a test card number instead, and not sending any metadata.
