Some users are unable to checkout on PayPal-enabled forms. When they click the checkout button they get the error message “Something went wrong during checkout and payment couldn’t be approved”

I have tested the form using live PayPal and everything works for me and many other users, but this is suddenly effecting only some users.

My first guess would be this is being caused by a pop-up blocker – any ideas?

    Hi @davedesigns

    I hope you’re well today!

Usually popup blockers shouldn’t be an issue here. I see that form is very complex with a lot of conditional rules so that issue may be some “clash” of these rules. Since it’s complex I wasn’t able to test “everything” and basic tests didn’t let me replicate the issue but since it’s happening for some users only:

    – I’m wondering if there’s any specific set of options selected in the form, common for these attempts?
    – if there are any specific browsers used?

If you do have reports of the form issue from your site’s users, do you think you could ask them for such information additionally? It could help test and diagnose it further.

Also, perhaps any specific type of card was used for payment? I know it sounds strange but I had issues with PayPal payment multiple times in the past (not Forminator forms at all) with certain cards despite sufficient funds and them working fine with any other gateways…

    Best regards,
    Adam

Yes the form does have a lot of conditionals which hides selection fields based on a hidden date field. Users are unable to even login to PayPal, the error happens when they click Checkout.

What I don’t understand is that I update the forms each month, and last month basically the same forms were used with all the same conditionals, and no users had issues. I duplicated last month’s form, updated the fields for this month, and now it has issues.

The users tell me it’s happening on both desktop and mobile, Chrome and Safari…and they were able to order with no problems in previous months.

Did Forminator recently push out an update or something? This seems to happen every time the plugin gets an update…

I have 3 order forms active on my client’s site – all duplicated from a 100% working form. Now I am finding that MOST of the submissions on ONE form are not being recorded in Forminator. The PayPal payments are coming through, and confirmation emails are being sent, but the submissions are not saving.

You guys have got to get your stuff together because every time you update this plugin my entire business breaks down with all the technical problems.

Last month I couldn’t bulk edit anything. This month one of my forms is just not working randomly…

Here is the form that’s not recording entries now: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1LLJr2XI4vjmm4_F8hZpDS-fZmJBSx_AW/view?usp=sharing

Issue was caused by hiding a selection field after the form was already receiving orders. Instead of submitting that field as a blank entry it broke the form. All subsequent orders were given an error message, no payment was processed, and all data was submitted as blank.

I resolved the issue by re-making the form and asking customers who received the error to re-order. Not the greatest workaround.
