ERROR: Signal 15 is sent to script!

SOLUTION BELOW!!!!
We switched to a new web host and started receiving the error: “ERROR: Signal 15 is sent to script!” on our two WordPress sites.
Our new host, SiteGround.com, was great in terms of research AND communication !
We tried:
a) some of the BackWPup suggestions in other threads, such as:
-)Maximum number of retries for job steps
-)Maximum script execution time
-)Reduce server load
-)Trying SiteGround’s SuperCache both on and off
b) de-activating/activating the plugin
c) uninstalling, reinstalling the pluginBut nothing worked ??
Here’s what solved it for us:
Per SiteGround:
The issue was caused by the fact that the PHP version applied on the sub-folder was 5.3. I updated the PHP version to 5.5 and then the backup was generated successfully.Note:
After resolving one of our WordPress sites first, they did the same thing on our second site. However, we had to change the BackWPup/Settings/JOB settings to match the first site as follows… then everything worked great on the second site:
a) The Maximum script execution time was set to 30 (I changed to 0).
b) The Reduce server load was set to medium, I changed to disabled.THANKS SITEGROUND !!!!
Hope this helps the BackWPup Developer and/or other users in resolving this issue!!!!

Sorry, that issent a issue that can be fixed on BackWPup side.
Hi Daniel,
The issue is still present on SiteGround servers and I would like to discuss it with you or someone responsible for the development of BackWPup. Please send me a mail to [email protected], so that we can discuss the problem and work together to resolve it, so that all SG clients will not experience issues with BackWPup on our servers.
Looking forward to your reply!
For any WordPress users following this issue, I must add that our new Web Host, https://SiteGround.com, has been amazing at Customer Support!
To see this kind of follow up from a web host is incredible!
Thank you Daniel… and Daniel… for your help ??
John
I have send a mail to Daniel K.
Thanks to the valuable help of Daniel Hüsken, we come out with a temporary work-around that involved to commented out line 1199 in wp-content/plugins/backwpup/inc/class-job.php
# echo ' ';
Then the backups should be created without errors.
In future BackWPup release (3.2), this would be fixed permanently.
Thank you for your help once again, Daniel!
Hi,
Just to let you know … I’m with SiteGround too since I’ve been pleased with their services and support for about 7 years now.
I noticed I had the same issue as mentioned above, so I checked this thread. Commenting out the line mentioned was … easy … if it wasn’t that in my file the line mentioned is at line 1019.
Now th backup does get created, but I’m still getting errors about that single 15 :

I do have the impression that the backup does get made.
Hey Stefaan,
SiteGround continued to work the problem and it appears they have a work-around until the next BackWPup update. I’m completely impressed with their Support and willingness to dig in deep to solve problems !!!
Per Site Ground:
According to your logs, each backup creation, every day, was interrupted by the Apache Timeout limit. In order to resolve this issue, I added the following directives in your .htaccess files:‘<IfModule mod_dtimeout.c>
<Files ~ “.php”>
SetEnvIf Request_URI “wp-cron.php” DynamicTimeout=300
</Files>
</IfModule>’By this way I dynamically increased the Timeout limit to 300 (seconds) to avoid this issue to reoccur in future.
Feel free to put a Support Ticket into SiteGround and refer to our sites https://LakePath.com and https://LeLacAppelle.com and their Support Ticket #1314323.
Please report back and let us know if it works for you!
Good Luck,
John
John, this could be really good tip if the issue is related to the defined web server timeout limit. However, it is necessary one specific Apache module to be installed in order to use this directives – dtimeout.
Best Regards,
Ivan StefanovHi John,
I don’t think it changed anything … logs stills how the error, but the daily backups do get pushed to DropBox.

Stefaan, if you notice that due to the signals sent to the script your backups could not be completed fully, do not hesitate to open a new support ticket and to ask to be forwarded to my attention.
I will be glad to look at this case personally.
It’s great to see a web host working with a plugin writer! Not common in our world! I am working through the same problem.
Big thank you to Site Ground.
I ran in the same issue after moving hosting provider, and 5 minutes after a simple ticket it was fixed.
