For the past 7 to 10 days, a handful (4 to 6) of the 170+ sites we use this plugin on (almost all of those 170+ sites are on our VPS, so server environment is the same) have started generating errors like this:

    “bizsites” is my S3 bucket.

I’ve worked with hosting support and curl is up to date and functioning properly. And in fact, most of the jobs on most of the sites are working just fine. Also, when I log into a site and run a job manually, it completes just fine. I know it’s always these intermittent problems that are the most difficult to troubleshoot, but I’m wondering if you have seen anything like this before, or if you have any ideas for helping me troubleshoot.

    Thanks!
    Bet

    Hi @bethannon1,
Thank you for your error reporting, which this kind of problem is really hard to resolve so could you please email to us at [email protected] :

Credentials for a user with the BackWPup Admin role
    FTP credentials

Then we’ll be happy to take a look and hopefully track it down quickly.

    Hi @bethannon1,

    Just a few questions:

Are you using the same bucket on every site?

Is there any difference you can think of between the sites that don’t work, and the ones that do?

It almost strikes me as a DNS resolution error. Is this a VPS you manage yourself or is it managed by the host?

Does this happen every time you run the job on these sites, or just intermittently?

    Hi Brandon!

We use two different buckets, and it’s happening on both. But only for a very small minority of the sites.

I have racked my brain to try to come up with some differences between sites that are working in sites that are not, but I am not coming up with anything. This is further complicated by the fact that the errors seem to come intermittently – I will get this error notification on a particular site, and then the next job runs just fine on it. And manual jobs have always run just fine on the affected sites.

I have wondered about it being a DNS resolution issue as well.

This is a host-managed VPS. There are no BackWPup error notifications today for this particular issue, and I find myself wondering if in my calls to them yesterday, they fixed something related to DNS (maybe even inadvertently?).

I will keep an eye on looking for more of these errors, and let you know if they recur. Let’s hold off on you guys spending time troubleshooting by going into the sites until we see whether they recur. But I appreciate that offer!

    Hi @bethannon1
I’m going to close your issue here ??
If your problem occurs, please open this issue and we will go further ??
    Have a nice day!
