When Gutenberg is active while trying to save a new Event or update an existing one I get the error “Publishing failed. The response is not a valid JSON response.”

After trying multiple troubleshootings (from disabling all plugins) plus suggestions available online such as updating permalinks, plugins, php version etc which did not work, I have found the solution to the issue and I would like to share it.

It had application firewall (WAF) / ModSecurity with OWASP ModSecurity Core Rule Set. I use runcloud hosting and after disabling the firewall then the error is fixed!

Is this a hosting specific issue or a setting within WordPress? Appreciate the feedback since I am getting the same issue now. Unable to create new or even edit pages.
