“Error processing checkout. Please try again.” On every payment option tried

    Hey everyone!

    I’m hoping to get some ideas on a problem we are having. We are opening our first Woocommerce store and I’m running into issues with placing orders. I have tried both Stripe card payments and just the Direct Bank Transfer option and get the same error message: “Error processing checkout. Please try again.” I have removed all the other payment methods in an effort to isolate the problem but no luck. Here is our status report info and I have also pasted in two Fatal Errors that I found, whether they relate or not I am unsure.

    Thanks for reaching out!

    I understand that you are experiencing this error message on various payment methods, is this correct?

    Kindly note that Direct Bank Transfer, or Bank Account Clearing System (BACS), is a gateway that require no payment be made online.

    This being said, please can you check that all information has been added correctly when setting up Direct Bank Transfer. Here is more information on this.

    Additionally, please can you ensure that all information is being added correctly, to the Billing/Shipping fields?

    Also, after checking your System Status report (thanks for proactively sharing this!), I am unable to find any plugin that you are using to enable payments via Stripe, on your site. Please could you clarify which plugin you are using to enable this payment option?

    Hello, yes that was correct. It was an error on every payment method tried, I had removed some methods in an attempt to isolate the problem. It has now been resolved thankfully but reverting back to PHP 7.4. So something about the 8.0 update was causing issues with a plugin. Thanks so much for your help!

    Thanks for providing an update, and glad to hear that you have managed to get things working as expected on your end.

    Just to add – if you would like to narrow down the culprit that is conflicting with PHP version 8.0, you can try performing a conflict test by disabling all plugins (rather than just disabling the payment methods), and then activating them, one by one, to see which one triggers the issue.

    Once you have identified the culprit, you can reach out to the developers of that specific plugin for further help on the issue. ??
