“Error processing checkout. Please try again.” Cannot proceed checkout

    Hi,

    My website is using Avada theme. Before when I installed Woocommerce ver 7.4, when doing the checkout process and pressing place order, I receive the message “Error processing checkout. Please try again.” but the order still went through. After that I updated to Woocommerce ver 7.5, when pressing place order, it greyed out with “blockUI blockOverlay”.

    May you help me how to fix that? Thanks in advance.

    Let’s make sure that nothing is conflicting with WooCommerce here. Please follow these steps to determine if there is a theme/plugin conflict:

    1. Switch your theme to Storefront.
    2. Disable all plugins except WooCommerce.
    3. Perform the test to verify if the error is gone.

    If the issue is resolved after switching to Storefront theme and deactivating all other plugins except WooCommerce, the problem may be with the plugins and/or theme you deactivated. To figure out which plugin is causing the problem, reactivate your plugins one by one, testing after each reactivation until you find the one causing the issue.

    Please share the following information for further investigation:

    1. System Status: You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”. Once you’ve done that, paste it here in your response.
    2. Fatal Error Log: A copy of any fatal error log found under WooCommerce > System Status > Logs (if available).

    Hi,

    I try to use plugin Health Check & Troubleshooting and enable troubleshooting mode with only Woocommerce and Storefront active but when I press place order at checkout page, there’s a loading circle keeps spinning infinitely without informing the status of the order. I still receive orders in woocommerce.

    Also do you have any custom code implemented for checkout?

    I am also seeing a couple of errors on your website (screenshot for reference), one of which seems to be originating from the Button contact VR plugin. Please deactivate the plugin and perform the test again.

    If you are not seeing any error messages, search for the constants WP_DEBUG and WP_DEBUG_LOG in your wp-config file and set it to true:

    Once you do this, WordPress will generate a debug.log file under {your website}\wp-content\debug.log where you will be able to see the error details. Please share the error details here, if any.

    Once again, can you please try to switch to the default Storefront theme and only WooCommerce plugin is enabled, create a test order using the built-in Cash on Delivery and see if this works?

    If so, then this kind of problem is usually caused by your theme or a third-party plugin present on your site. We can run a conflict test to verify this. I’d recommend cloning your site to a staging environment and performing the tests described on this guide without modifying your live site or impacting customers. Many hosts provide staging facilities, so it’s worth checking in with them. It’s also possible to do it using the free WP Staging plugin.

    If this was caused by a third-party plugin present on your site, it would be best to reach out to the developers for further assistance here.

    If this did not resolve the issue, please provide the fatal error logs (if any) under WooCommerce > Status > Logs.

    I tested with only Storefront and Woocommerce active but the problem still occurs. When I placed an order using the cash-on-delivery method, with Woocommerce 7.5.0 up, there’s a loading circle kept spinning infinitely. With Woocommerce 7.4.1 down, I am receiving the error message:?Error processing checkout. Please try again.. When I checked the order tab, I still received orders with the status “Processing”

    Hi @tmt24030,

    I tested with Woocommerce 7.5.1 on my site and wasn’t able to reproduce the issue. Do you have any custom code implemented or custom code snippets on your site?

    If yes, can you please comment/disable the custom code and try testing again?

    Hello @tmt24030,

    Uncaught Error: Call to undefined function PHPMailer\PHPMailer\mail()

    This error is related to the server’s email functionality. As per this article, transaction emails can cause issues in checkout.

    You can try adding the following filter to your site:

    add_filter( 'woocommerce_defer_transactional_emails', '__return_true' );

    I suggest using a plugin like Code snippet instead of adding it directly to your function.php file.

    If that didn’t help, I suggest getting in touch with your hosting provider about this.
