Error: Please Install and Activate Woocommerce Plugin

Go into admin and make sure WooCommerce is actually activated.

You’d need to remove the plugin/theme causing this by FTP’ing into your site. I don’t know which one would be responsible however – one must be doing a check for WooCommerce existence in a really bad way.

since i updated the woocommerce-plugin today,like proposed in the admin panel, nothing works. I deleted the woocommerce-plugin on the FTP, nothing works. i remove the older one from my backup, nothing works…

connihahn, its not WooCommerce itself. it’s something else checking to see if woocommerce exists and this check is failing. Find out which plugin and remove it to get access to admin.

That error message is singularly unhelpful.

You could try renaming your plugin folder (to get rid of ALL plugins) and see if the site comes up.

If not, you should rename your active theme’s folder, which will cause WordPress to switch to a default theme, and hopefully let you back in the admin.

I have the same problem after each WooCommerce update. My solution is to manually reactivate the WooCommerce plugin via MySQL (wp_options -> active_plugins) – but you should know what you’re doing there. rollbrettfahrer77 were you able to identify what plugin/theme is doing the check in such a destructive way?

Mike – no I wasn’t, but I didn’t search for it. As I was unable to get into admin, I just did the mysql trick. My theme is twentytwelve and my woo-related plugins are:

actually i renamed the plugin-folder (plugins_)
and then i had immediately access to the admin panel.
i renamed the plugin-folder to plugins and step by step i activated the plugins. cross sells in the end (after the woocommerce update).
