Error: Please enter an email address when changing admin display name

Hi

I am working on a new site that I launched through Learndash (femaleleadershipaccelerator.com). Site is not secure yet so I installed Really Simple SLL.

One of the issues I need to fix is: We have detected administrator roles where the login and display names are the same.?

So, I got my admin user profile and indeed login and display name are the same. I try to change the display name (as login is not possible). Email adress field is empty so I fill it in. Every time I try to update my profile to continue, I get this error message:

Error:?Please enter an email address.

after which all fields are cleared again and I can restart. Only difference is that it is now showing

There is a pending change of your email to?(the email i entered).?Cancel

However, I do not get any emails to verify or whatsoever. If I cancel this and restart or enter a different email, its all the same. i do not get any further.
