    Hi Jeremy,
please try checking your job configuration. In the tab To:Dropbox there’s an option labeled “File Deletion”. Is that option set to the maximum number of files you’d like to see in your Dropbox folder?

My ‘File Deletion’ is set to two and once its done the two backups it will throw an error that it could not delete the older versions.

    here is the log:

    Hi bobbinson,

File Detection needs to be set to at least 1. If 0 is set, BackWPup won’t delete any files. (See Tooltip next to option field) Should work like a charm.

    My settings are correct.

@jeremy I’m unsuccessful re-creating the issue, so here are some random things to post/test:

    • Check BackWPup->Settings->Informations:
    • Are you using BackWPup 3.0.4?
    • Which PHP version is installed on your server?
    • Which version of WordPress do you use?
    • When you go to BackWPup->Dashboard, it says “First steps” and “Test the installation” underneath. When you do that, does your environment pass the test?
    • Are you using a sandboxed Dropbox account (you’d know it if it was the case)
    • Have you tried setting up a new job with the same settings? Does it also fail deleting the files?

    Thanks,
    Caspar

    WordPress version 3.5.1
    BackWPup version 3.0.4
    PHP version 5.2.17

When I go to “Test the installation”, the only kind of error I see is this:

Server self connect: The HTTP response test get a error “name lookup timed out”The HTTP response test get a false http status ()The HTTP response gives back the false body “”

I am not using a sandboxed Dropbox account.

I’ll trying setting up a new job. For the record, this is happening on two different websites of mine (same Dropbox).

    Hi Casper,

As stated in the Previous message the ‘File Deletion’ is set to ‘2’ and throws the above error as shown in the log in the previous message.

Ive been doing some tests and found that a space in the destination path causes the issue.

It can place files into the dropbox destination path with a space i.e ‘/backup test/’ but cannot run the deletion command afterwards to cleanup the older backups. in the error log it puts the path as ”/backup%20test/’ which is incorrect.

Removing the Space resolves the issue, but there is a bug there that it cannot remove files with spaces in its path.

Ive adjusted my sites accordingly but please resolve the bug in the next release as im sure many people will have the same issues.

sorry i have the same problem.
but congratulations for the last SUPER version????
