    Hi,

For most of today, this afternoon, I have been getting website monitor messages of a 403 forbidden error on my website.

    https://prntscr.com/12hfkfo

    https://prntscr.com/12hflhm

My host checked it all and was confused because the server has been up for 24 hours.

Then I came across the issue in their screenshot – the Anti Crawler was back on.

After I had switched it off in my settings.

Why did this happen? I got this message in my plugin dashboard

    https://prntscr.com/12hfhql

So the Anti Crawler ticked back on (by some strange default) due to this error.

This is NOT good at all, I have lost lots of traffic today due to this error.

How can this be solved once and for all. I am fed up of having to check for this Anti Crawler tick box even when I update your plugin.

After unchecking the box, the site is back online..

    https://prntscr.com/12hfovh

A better solution is needed. Also, why did I get this error, when I have paid fully for a license for the long term?

    Regards,
    Indy

    Hello @indyparker
    1) What monitoring service do you use? It seems the Anti-Crawler blocks monitoring service, not real visitors.
    2) Click the button “Synchronize with cloud”. The reload the plugin page. Does the error still persist?

    Hi,

    I use this:

    https://prntscr.com/12hgcts

I sync’d with the cloud and the error has gone but the issue is not that it has gone now but why did it switch on the Anti Craler when the error occurred in the first place?

All afternoon I have wasted time of mine, my host and Sucuri trying to work out why we are getting 403 forbidden errors. When it was your plugin causing this all this time.

Surely, if an error occurs why would it switch the Anti Crawler back on?

I do not see if the error still persists. https://prnt.sc/12hfhql Does it?

And you still did not answer me, what monitoring service do you use.

I see a lot of blocks in your logs. https://cleantalk.org/my/show_sfw

But I do not know what the service is monitoring service.

If you need assistance, please answer the questions.

    Hi,

Here are the answers to your questions.

We use Uptrends and MXToolbox for our monitoring. Plus Sucuri as well. All flagged the issues today about 403 forbidden access.

    https://prntscr.com/12hm57c

After switching off ‘Anti Crawler’ unticking it, it has stopped reporting errors that have been reported for the last few hours since the error on your dashboard of which I had NO knowledge. There was no report on the WP admin of this error.

Look at the graph top corner on Uptrends shows how long the site was down costing us a lot of loss of traffic today.

    https://prntscr.com/12hm6ky

Yes the blocks you see on your link:

I see a lot of blocks in your logs. https://cleantalk.org/my/show_sfw

All are due to Anti Crawler being switched back on automatically after this error:

    https://prntscr.com/12hfhql

It needs to be off. Which as soon as I set it as off. The website started working and no more blocks of real traffic.

So, no error in your plugin should switch on Anti Crawler by itself, if I have set it to off (unchecked).

Further to my last response. Here you can see now on Uptrends it is all green:

Thanks to the Anti-Crawler being switched off, which was causing the forbidden 403 errors.

    Thank you for waiting.

We applied necessary changes on our servers. Now the monitor services are being handled correctly by the Anti-Crawler option.

    Please, synchronize the plugin:
? WordPress Admin Page —> Settings —> Anti-Spam by CleanTalk —> press the button “Synchronize with Cloud”

After doing that you can enable the Anti-Crawler option back if you want. Your log is here:

    Kind regards.

    Hello,

We also check the Anti-Crawler option logic and came to the conclusion that the option can’t be disabled by itself.

The only way it’s can be disable if you re-activated the plugin with “Complete deactivation” enabled. In this way, all the options reset to default.
