    We are now receiving this “error occurred please try an alternate form of payment” when users try to checkout with a credit card.
    This error started with the automatic woo commerce square plugin update from version 1.0.3.7 to 2.1
    When I rolled back the plugin to version 1.0.3.7 processing works again but automatic plugin updates keep pushing the woo commerce square version 2.1 update causing the gateway to fail again… i am not seeing logs and no order failed emails were being generated. This was happening unannounced to us since the update and there is no record of how many sales we missed.

    also submitted to woo commerce support ticket #2789595….
    Online sales are shutdown until this is solved…. No support replies yet…

    What i did was roll back the Square plugin to version 1.0.37. Then I installed the Easy Updates Manager plugin to keep it from automatically updating to 2.1.0… Woocommerce Square support has not given me a solution that makes the woocommerce square plugin 2.1.0 work…

    same issue here except I never upgraded to 2.x. I’ve been on 1.0.38 because of the issue with multiple variable items not syncing with square on versions 2.0 and up. I don’t do automatic updates, so I’m still on 1.0.38. But still not working …this just started happening this past week. so right now I am dead in the water with our website – no orders coming in.

    This plugin is SOOOO frustrating lately.

    The roll back and keeping it from updating worked for now… I couldnt figure out why it worked during tests when i rolled back then kept stopping … took me a minute to wordpress was auto updating. I turned on square logs. Sent them to support. waiting now

    Hey there @sworrab – thanks for including that ticket number!

    We responded on 17 March asking about address line 2:

    Square is throwing an error related to a missing billing address line in your checkout process. There are a few things that can be causing this issue:

    expected a string value.: verification_details.billing_contact.address_lines[1]

    Could you please go to Dashboard > Appearance > Customize > WooCommerce > Checkout and check to see if you have the Address line 2 field set to “Hidden?”

    If so, go ahead and change that setting to “Optional” and save. Once you’ve done that, please check to see if this resolves the error. Let us know how that goes!
