Error: no user with email address

  • When I try to login to the admin page to retrieve my password I get an error message that says their is “no user with that email address”. I know it is the right email address as I just got an email 2 weeks ago that said I had been updated to the new 4.3.1 version. I haven’t logged in to update my site in several months so I’m not sure what is going on. My site is https://www.collegesmartconsulting.com. Help please!

  • 1. It’s *possible* you have an ‘alias’ on your email account. Go to the email, expand the header, and see what the actual ‘sent to’ address was.

    2. Do you recall your WP username (rather than email address) – your login panel allows you to use that. I had a look on your test blog posts, but no name is attached other than the install defaults from Mr WordPress;)

    WordPress doesn’t update itself to major releases. Minor releases only, so considering the time span, that seems an unusual event.

    Log into your hosting account and take a look at your admin info using phpMyAdmin or whatever database management tools your host provides.     You should be able to see your (the primary admin) email address at Database_name > wp_users > ID (view the data, primary admin is user ID 1) > ‘user_email’

    I am new to all of this. I had someone create the site for me so this doesn’t make much sense to me. I logged in to post my first blog post and this is what happened. I have logged in before (months ago) with no problems. I’ll try to figure out these suggestions…this is so foreign to me though. Thanks for your help!
