At the beginning of running a backup I now get the following error messages:

    [03-Mar-2013 08:34:57] 1. Try for database dump …
[03-Mar-2013 08:34:57] ERROR: No MySQLi extension found. Please install it.
    [03-Mar-2013 08:34:58] 2. Try for database dump …
[03-Mar-2013 08:34:58] ERROR: No MySQLi extension found. Please install it.
    [03-Mar-2013 08:34:59] 3. Try for database dump …
[03-Mar-2013 08:34:59] ERROR: No MySQLi extension found. Please install it.

Is this something this has changed with v3 or is another side-effect of running DSO PHP? Any thoughts?

    Thanks, James

To use the Plugin with full functionality PHP 5.3.3 with mysqli, FTP,gz, bz2, ZipArchive and curl is needed.

It is new with 3.x becuse mysqli havs more prefomance, the development is contiuing and the most hoster has installed it.

Ok, MySQLi now installed by my hosting company (although turns out I could have actually done it myself via cPanel!). All seems to be working fine now and backing up again without errors ??

I see the logic behind moving from MySQL to MySQLi (with regards to the former being deprecated from PHP 5.5), but it seems that you’ve ‘jumped the gun’ slightly making this change in the plugin. I don’t pretend to understand any of the technicalities, but from what I’ve read up it seems WordPress itself hasn’t made the change yet (or even decided which way to go!), so it seems odd for a plugin to go ahead of the main application. Right? And no-one is using PHP 5.5 yet anyway really, so what’s the rush?

Anyway, turns out installing it wasn’t a huge hassle in the end and doesn’t seem to have adversely affected anything else, so all good.

    Thanks, James

Glad to hear James and thanks for the feedback! ?? Have fun with BackWPup!

Hey. Just saw this older, resolved thread for the MySQLi error message.

Sorry about the repetition. There’s no easy way to search these support threads ??

    I’ll look into installing it.

    Thanks for the awesome plugin.
