• Since 2.8, and including 2.8.1, I have a banner error above the dashboard (and all other admin pages) saying “Your backup folder MIGHT be visible to the public. To correct this issue, move the .htaccess file from wp-content/plugins/wp-dbmanager to /hermes/bosweb/web177/b1779/sl.[my domain]/blog/wp-content/backup-db” although I have in fact moved the .htaccess file as directed. Now a second banner announces “All in One SEO Pack must be configured. Go to the admin page to enable and configure the plugin.” since I updated that plug-in and despite reconfiguring it.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a fix for either one of these? They don’t seem to affect the functioning of the blog, but they are somewhat annoying, and I don’t want an unfixed deterioration of my WP installation to go on unchecked.

  • Regarding WP-DBManager, it doesn’t look like you’re on Media Temple, but does this sound familiar?

I could not find a .htaccess in the directory that the banner specifies — a ls -la did not list the file.

Does anyone know what should be the contents of this file?

Found it; it was named htaccess.txt .. I was looking for a .htaccess file!! It should tell you that!
