Error messages “Undefined array key” using PHP 8.0 and Astra-theme

    In my wp-project using Astra-theme I’ve got the following warnings when recommended PHP 8.0 is used:

    Warning: Undefined array key "advanced-footer-widget-2" in /home/www/public_html/subdomain-test-ruf-okel-de/wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/products/photocrati_nextgen/modules/widget/package.module.widget.php on line 93

Warning: Undefined array key "before_widget" in /home/www/public_html/subdomain-test-ruf-okel-de/wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/products/photocrati_nextgen/modules/widget/package.module.widget.php on line 96
    Warning: Undefined array key "widget_setting_before_title" in /home/www/public_html/subdomain-test-ruf-okel-de/wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/products/photocrati_nextgen/modules/widget/templates/display_gallery.php on line 9

Warning: Undefined array key "widget_setting_after_title" in /home/www/public_html/subdomain-test-ruf-okel-de/wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/products/photocrati_nextgen/modules/widget/templates/display_gallery.php on line 11

    In another project with 2017-theme in the same environment, everthing works fine without errors.

    The warnings disappear, when I disable NexGEN Gallery.

    There is a 2nd problem, which is independent from PHP 8.0 or 7.4:
    The footer Widget-2-title “Sponsoren” is always written in smaler character-size than defined.

    WordPress: 6.1.1
    Astra: 4.0.2
    NexGEN Gallery: Version 3.35
    PHP: 8.0

    Hi @jwhobbie,

    These are not error messages but simple non-functionally affecting warnings that you get because of the WP_Debug being active. You can simply ignore or disable WP_Debug from your site’s wp-config.php file using any FTP software such as FIleZilla to hide them for the time being.

    The footer Widget-2-title “Sponsoren” is always written in smaler character-size than defined. – could you please let us know if this changes if deactivating NextGen Gallery?

    When NexGEN Gallery is deactivated the title is not displayed as well.

    Footer Widget 3 “letzte Bilder” is also an NexGEN gallery and is displayed without any warnings or smal title characters.

    Hi @jwhobbie

    Can you confirm that the widget support comes with Astra Pro only?

    We have tried to replicate the warnings using the free version of Astra theme but it doesn’t seem to support footer widgets. We couldn’t get the warnings to show up if using a different theme too.

    No, it’s the free Astra version. Go to:
    Customizer/Footer-Builder

    There are three footer-lines and in the 1st line I selected 4 collumns. Click into the empty field and you can insert widgets or html.

    It says “Upgrade now” when I access “Customizer/Footer-Builder” with the free version of Astra theme.

    Edit: We’ve managed to add a NGG widget via the builder but we couldn’t get the warning replicated. Could you please let us know what version of Astra theme and NextGen Gallery you use?

    Please remind, that the warnings are related to PHP 8.0 only.

    The smal sized title “Sponsoren” comes with PHP 7.4 as well.

    I’m afraid we couldn’t replicate the same while using the latest version of the theme and NGG on PHP 8.2.
