    Hello Support,

i have two issues. It would be great if you could help me.

Issue 1) when i enter nothing in my comment form no error is shown even the fields are required. The form just updates the captcha but there is no information what is wrong.

Issue 2) the tooltips are very badly shown in the mobile (responsive) version of the webpage e.g. on iPhone etc. Is there a way to show messages and tooltips under the fields?

    Kind regards

    Andre

    Hello Team,

i was able to fix Issue 1 by clearing up my website cache after the update to the newest version of wpDiscuz. So now the required field are shown with a red border when the have to values.

BUT: the red borders are NOT shown in the mobile / responsive view. AND the tooltips are very badly shown in the mobile (responsive) version of the webpage e.g. on iPhone etc. Is there a way to show messages and tooltips under the fields?

Is there any solution for this?

    Kind regards

    Andre

wpDiscuz uses browser validation messages. Could you please specify the phone, OS and Browser you use. Also leave some screenshot.

The red borders do not show on iPhones and Safari web browser.

Hello @crazyonepiece18: thanks for your reply!

From my point of view wpDiscuz is not useable if the mobile view doesn’t show the commenter why his/her comment cannot be published. If a required field is not filled out correctly the commenter should be hinted in mobile view consequently. Otherwise the commenter is confused and may leave the site. Best way to do this would be to show errors below the input fields rather that displaying a red border around required/wrong fields. Especially when the red border doesn’t show up in mobile view. That’s a bumper.

Btw. iPhones are “standard” smartphones these days ??

I agree with newslicer. I’ve had users face the same issue when commenting from their iPad/Phone. They don’t get an error message of why their comment can’t be posted, so they assume the comment plugin is broken.

It would be great if this could be fixed.

    Thanks,
    Atsuna

We’re working to improve validation message visibility on all devices. We’ll release an update soon. Also please don’t forget to delete all cache.

Just wanted to leave an update on this. wpDiscuz is really a good system compared to other commenting systems. You have done a very good job! If you improve validation messages it would be my number one to implement.

Please let us know when the next update is expected and what you’re working on.

Thank you so very much! Tested the update with iPhone ans macOS and its working great now. Error messages are displayed within the corresponding fields and the commenter can easily find out what’s wrong.

Really great and fast support. Merci!

    Hi,

I’d like to chime in on this statement

    wpDiscuz uses browser validation messages

Can these validation messages be overwritten somehow?

My page uses the “personal” form of address (the German “du”) instead of the professional form (“Sie”) throughout the whole page, but the “Please fill the required field”-message (which come from the browser, as I learned? ^^) uses the professional form.

It would be great if you could put the validation messages also to the “Phrases” section of the plugin to be freely translated.

    What do you think?

    Thanks,
    Mike

P.S.: currently using plugin version 4.0.2
