I really like Happy Forms, but I’m having an issue with some users not fully understanding what is required.

In my version, “Version 1.6.18”, Happy Forms does NOT put a red star near required fields (unlike the videos I see) but instead puts “optional” next to optional fields.

My form doesn’t have any optional fields, and because there’s not required indicator, a user doesn’t know what fields are required.

I’m using recaptcha so the user can’t submit the form unless the entire form and the recaptcha are complete.

If the user fills out all the fields except for one, they cannot submit the form and there is no error message saying that a required field is missing. So they are calling me and telling me my form is broken.

Any thoughts on solving this issue?

  • I have the same problem. There used to be an option to select under the General Tab but it’s missing. Version 1.6.18

    Hey there, @dedicatedmanagers and @krunchy!

Previous HappyForms versions included this behavior. We then put in some time to research this subject and see if we could make things even simpler, and discovered that a more effective approach is to consider all parts as required, marking only optional ones. That convinced us to remove the asterisk (and related option).

If you’d prefer to mark required labels with a symbol, you can do so by adding the symbol directly in your part Title field. You can then remove the optional label completely using your Style step Part Labels & TextOptional part label option.

I hope that clears your doubts! Let us know what you think. ??
