Error Message: you are probably offline

I have been trying to edit my sidebar widgets but everytime I click update it get an error message at the bottom telling me there was an error and that I was probably offline. But I’m not offline as I am logged in attempting to update my sidebar. Can anyone help so I can update and not get this error message?
