Error message when trying to open exported xml file

  • When I use Excel to try to open the WordPress backup xml file I got from the dashboard I get this error:

    The document wordpress.2010-07-20.xml cannot be opened because there are problems with the contents.
    Details:
    End tag ‘script’ does not match the start tag ‘content:encoded’.
    Location: Line: 854, Column: 9′

    Any ideas?
