Error message when navigating anything, choosing dates, agendas, etc

Hi I am using the avada theme and instead of using the default calendar page, I created a new page called Events and used the shortcode [ai1ec] in a code block. The calendar displays perfectly but I am getting a 200 error messages when using any of the navigation.

Something went wrong when fetching events
The request status is 200
The error thrown was: Syntax Error, expected expression, got ‘<‘

I am not sure where this unexpected ‘<‘ is?

Initially when I encountered this error it gave off a 404 error. I deleted the default calendar page from the trash and then reloaded and got the 200 error.

Appreciate any insight ?? I am not sure whether its somehow related to the fact that the shortcode is in a code block but I deleted it from the code block and added the shortcode to a text block and got the same error.
