I have gone through that setup, but instead of getting the GA dashboard, I get : Lock selected access level to this profile: ?– your profile list needs an update: Click here

When I click, I get the error message :
Error calling GET https://www.googleapis.com/analytics/v3/management/accounts/~all/webproperties/~all/profiles?key=AIzaSyBG7LlUoHc29ZeC_dsShVaBEX15SfRl_WY: (403) User does not have any Google Analytics account.

Would it help if I uninstalled GA, and then re-installed?
    Thanks for your help
    Steve

Make a Google Account and configure it before authorizing the plugin! If you have one, clear the cache to refresh your profiles list.

Thanks for your efforts here Alin,

However, I’m no nearer a happy installation: I singed up for GA on the Google+ site and directed it to my website.
Then I uninstalled GA, so that I could re-install and hopefully direct it to my gmail address.
But upon re-installation I get the following message :

    Could not create directory. D:/virtualservers/(website details)/(website details)/wwwroot/wp-content/plugins/google-analytics-

    dashboard-for-wp/

    Could not create directory. D:/virtualservers/(website details)/(website details)/wwwroot/wp-content/plugins/google-analytics-dashboard-for-wp/

can be fixed from your cPanel or ask your hosting provider to fix it, is just a permission error.

A Google+ account is not enough, you need to properly setup an analytics account here: https://www.google.com/analytics/
