    Hi There,

I’m getting this error message when I try to publish a post:

There has been an error with the API. Please make sure your API settings are correct and try again: The attachment Outdoor-Core-4.jpg could not be included in the request because it was empty.

Any ideas on how I can fix this? I would love to get this plugin working with my Apple News posts.

    Thanks,

    Justin

Please review the important note in the plugin documentation about enabling allow_url_fopen

Just did and went through this with my host. It’s on and open, still same error?

I take that back. It says this:

“There has been an error with the API. Please make sure your API settings are correct and try again: The attachment article.json could not be included in the request because it was empty.”

Can you please download and post the contents of that JSON file here?

    Thanks.

Trying, but when I open it up, there’s nothing in it? Are you referring to downloading the individual post JSON file?

If you’re referring to downloading more files, I don’t know how.

I could sen you logins if you’re willing to look at this from my side.

Logging into your dashboard is out of scope for the type of support we can provide. However, if the JSON file is blank, you’re likely experiencing a PHP error. Please check your PHP error logs and let us know if you see anything useful. Thanks.

Cool. Why don’t I spend even more time digging through the logs to look over the fact that your plugin is simply BUGGY!

The Apple News format is complex and requires a complex code base to handle it. It’s simply not possible for every single installation to work perfectly. I can point you to hundreds of other sites, some publishing hundreds of articles for millions of readers daily, who have absolutely no issues with the plugin whatsoever. We have dozens of unit tests in place to ensure we don’t introduce any regressions with each release.

There could be many reasons besides a legitimate bug that this plugin isn’t working – other plugins on your site, unexpected markup in your articles, or a misconfiguration of your hosting environment. We need your help to troubleshoot all of those possibilities, which may require you to do things like check your error log for us.

Keep in mind this is free, open source software provided to you for no charge. There is no warranty nor implication of any service level agreement. We’re helping you out because it’s the right thing to do and, if we identify a legitimate bug, may improve the plugin for everyone. However, if you’re unwilling to participate in that process, then I don’t have anything further to offer you.

    Thanks.

Closing this issue since you aren’t able to provide any more feedback on this.
