Error Message Says Host PHP Version Too Low

    After installing version 1.6.5 into WordPress version 4.7.3 I get an error message

    Your version of PHP is below the minimum version of PHP required by Schema plugin. Please contact your host and request that your version be upgraded to 5.3 or later.

    Upon checking my host PHP version they indicate they are running 5.4.24 which is obviously above what the message tells me. Is there a known reason for this? Is there a fix or workaround for this?
