    I’m using Amazon SES to send emails. Digest emails go out okay, but when I try to use the Subscribe2 Send Email tab to send a message to all subscribers, I get this error message:

    Error : [512] SimpleEmailService::sendEmail(): Sender – ValidationError: 1 validation error detected: Value null at ‘message.subject’ failed to satisfy constraint: Member must not be null Request Id: 7508db2d-53c7-11e5-9f93-836b10637f11

    Any suggestions?

    It seems that the Subject line for the email is being considered as null or empty, are you entering a subject line?

    Yes I am. I have tried this a couple of times with the same results.

    @john.horning

    How are you using the Amazon SES service? Via a plugin – if so which one? What version? And what version of Subscribe2?

    (@johnhorning-1)

    I’m using WP SES Version 0.3.60 and Subscribe2 Version 10.20.8, latest versions of both.

    @john.horning

    I don’t use the Amazon SES service, but looking through the code I can’t see any obvious issues.

    The email subject you are trying doesn’t contain anything other than simple text does it? (No HTML, no special characters)

    No HTML or special characters. I tried a message with the word “test” (without quotes) in the subject line and get the same error message. Would you be interested in testing it yourself on my site?

    Update:
    I deactivated WP SES and sent a test message from Subscribe2. It arrived with nothing in the subject line. I’m using Multisite, by the way. Perhaps that’s a clue.

    @mattyrob

    I’ve just tested the free version 10.20.8 on my testing site at home and the subject came through. Are you running any other plugins that might affect emails? Have you tried with everything else disabled?

    Apparently this problem does have something to do with multisite. I deactivated all other plugins, as you suggested, and still have the problem with the missing subject line. I also installed Subscribe2 on a regular site and it worked fine.

    I realize that Subscribe2 cannot be activated on the entire network, but it does work, in most respects, when activated on a site in the network.

    Not sure where we go from here.

    @john.horning

    So have you got Subscribe2 activated network wide on multisite then? That would require hacking of the plugin files.

    (@johnhorning-1)

    My network currently consists of only 2 sites, but only one of them has Subscribe2 activated. I didn’t do any hacking. I was planning to add more sites and activate it on each site as needed, but I might need to re-think my strategy.

    @john.horning

    Any chance I could take a look? Do you have my contact details already?

    I found a Semper Plugins email address that I think belongs to you. You probably don’t want me to mention it here. I’ll send you an email.

    @mattyrob

    Thanks so much for checking my site and finding something I missed, namely a plugin that I created myself which was interfering with the subject line.

    Sorry for the bother.
