• I’ve had my blog up and running smoothly since last March. I just tried to upload new photos and received this error message:

Unable to create directory /home/hots/public_html/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/12. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

Under miscellaneous settings, the upload folder says –
wp-contents/upload. And there’s a check mark in the “organize my uploads into month and year based folders”.

I’m not a computer whiz by any means. What’s going on?

  • change folder (/uploads/) permission to 777 hope it works.

    Hi,

Assign 755 recursive permissions to wp-content folder of your blog. You can assign this permissions via SSH. If you do not have an access of SH then you can contact your hosting service provider to grant the permissions.

    Thanks,

Hey thanks guys. Problem is I have no idea what you’re talking about. Hahaha. Seriously. Where do I go to change these things? Is it in the blog admin?

    Hi,

No, there is no option in blog admin to assign permissions. You can assign these permissions via SSH. If you do not have an access of SSH then you can contact your hosting service provider to grant the permissions.

    Thanks,

Hi Shane, thank you for your quick replies! I’m not computer savvy at all. LOL. Do you mean my hosting provider for my website? I honestly have no idea who would be hosting my blog…. Maybe I’m having one of those early morning brain farts….
