Error Message: Briefly unavailable for scheduled maintenance.

    I’m using WP WP v4.9.8.. I was attempting to update my XML Sitemap and Yoast plugins. However, my site suddently went to a message that states “Briefly unavailable for scheduled maintenance. Check back in a minute.” and it’s there permanently.

    I cannot access the Admin section of the app. I attempted to remove the referenced plugins from my server via FTP but that didn’t work either.

    Instead of simply renaming the plugins, I completely removed them from the server. I can now access my Admin section. Crisis avoided.

    For future reference, the maintenance message should disappear after 10 minutes. if it fails to do that, delete the file “.maintenance” in the site’s root.
