Error Log file showing corrupt (hacked) data?

    Hi, on two occasions in the last few days the file “error_log” which i believe WordPress is generating has been showing information like this:

    Can anyone elaborate about what all this is referring to? Content on my blog that has been hacked or corrupted perhaps?

    Apologies if this is the wrong place to post this, but i’m not especially tech-savvy with WordPress and hope this is a suitable place to ask about this. Many thanks, i really appreciate it.

    It looks like someone is running searches on your site… something like

    https://example.com/?s=That+Spammy+Text+In+Your+Logs

    This is not evidence you’ve been hacked. The error is that there are characters in the string that don’t fit your database’s encoding type.

    Install a plugin like WordFence to help block access to your site from bots like this.

    Hi, thanks for this – i actually have WordFence installed already.

    So this is evidence of someone / a bot attempting to access my site via the search function? Is that what you mean?

    Someone/thing is searching your site. Why? I don’t know.

    Sorry, what i meant was: do you mean it’s possible to attempt to gain access to a site via the search function? If so, i didn’t know that.
