• I have a multisite wordpress site. I want to have a login widget in my sidebar. I have all plugins disabled, and have tried nearly everyone login widget out there. Every single time I activate the plugin and logout to test the widget, I get the error: “ERROR: Invalid username or incorrect password” and have to literally import a database backup to fix my login problem.

I don’t know what else to do — this is beyond frustrating. I have worked so hard to finish my website, and I am so close…but this is stopping me from making it live. I can’t get into my administrator panel, and I am affraid of restoring my database from my backup, as I have made tons of changes in the last couple of days.

Any help would be much appreciated.

**for the record, I have even remove the plugins via FTP, and still cannot login to the admin panel.

Okay, so I was able to login following these steps:

    Reset the entire plugin folder:

    1. Via FTP or your host’s file manager, navigate to the wp-contents folder (directory)
    2. Via FTP or your host’s file manager, rename the folder “plugins” to “plugins.hold”
    3. Login to your WordPress administration menus (/wp-admin)
    4. Via FTP or your host’s file manager, rename “plugins.hold” back to “plugins”

However, that still doesn’t explain WHY this happen :-/ I really want to add a login widget in my sidebar, and it just hasn’t been possible up to this point.

I experienced the same error, more specific described here.

The error started after an interrupted upgrade from wp 3.6 to wp 3.7.
Manually installing wp 3.7 via FTP solved the problem. Pffw!
