I am experiencing an error message “Error Installing License”

I have been directed to your support page, and have seen this relevant text:

If you copy/paste your new Wordfence license key into the “License Key” field and you receive a message “Error Installing License”, first verify that you did not inadvertently copy only part of the license key or overwrite a portion of the license key when pasting the key in to the text box. When in doubt, clear out the field and recopy/paste the key into the “License Key” field. If this does not work, return to the WordPress plugin page and request a new Free key by selecting the button “Get Your Wordfence License”.

I can verify that I have made no error with copy/paste the license code. I have manually deleted Wordfence from my website; reinstalled it and tried again with a new WF installation and a new Licences code. Still the issue remains.

NOTE: I have had to manually remove the plugin as a simple Deactivate in WP Admin does not work either.

    Can you help please?
    Thank you.

Hi @markbignell, thanks for reaching out.

I installed a new site license myself yesterday and decided to follow the blue “Install My License Automatically” button link to check all comms between my site and the Wordfence servers were working. Are you able to do that and receive all checkmarks for a successful installation, or do you see an error doing it that way too?

If 24 hours have now passed since the email arrived, there’s?no limit?to the amount of free sites a single email address can register – so you can simply try obtaining a key again.

There are a few other troubleshooting methods on our site. I have noted the text you’ve pasted above appears on this page, but it also appears in the plugin so I’m providing it for your convenience just in case anything there helps that you’ve not yet tried: https://www.wordfence.com/help/api-key/#installing-your-free-license-key

Let us know how you get on,
    Peter.

I’ve solved the issue now Peter, it was due to low resources allocated to the cpanel account. Sorted now. Thanks.
