I have had a HORRIBLE time transferring posts from wordpress.com to www.remarpro.com for a client (something is causing a problem due to the fact that they were on tumblr first). I finally got the posts to transfer to one of my test sites and I downloaded the wp_post.sql for this site.

I have done at least 5 clean uninstall and reinstalls of wordpress today on my client’s site and each time, the site looks great until I import the “wp_post.sql” file. The posts import perfectly (which made me jump up and down since this hasn’t happened with any other method) BUT now when going to “add new post” it says “submit for review” instead of “publish” and this isn’t even a viable option, if you hit this it says “are you sure you want to do this? Please try again” and never does anything. Also, the media uploader freezes at “crunching”.

    Please help! Thanks!

Try using the WP Migrate DB plugin to export the database from your test site.

Great plugin, by the way but that didn’t solve my problem. Here’s what seems to be going on now…

When I import the .sql file from my test site, it imports and changes all the settings to my test site’s url and settings (not sure if that’s normal, but it’s happened every time I do it). It redirects to my test site url/wp-admin when I try and access clients site/wp-admin and I have to use the test site login information. If I change the URL via the wp-config.php file I can access it and everything is going in the right database & file location but then I get the “submit for review” problem and media uploader problem again.

    This is driving me nuts!!!

If the test site is working correctly, use the plugin to export the database. Then use a text editor to check that all URLs have been translated correctly before importing it into the client site.

Also, check the client site wp-config.php to be sure that it has all the correct information.
