This error came up and now the AMP module in WordPress dashboard is just circling. I chose the simple, Reader option.

  • Thanks for reporting. If you’d like to share the following information we’d be happy t to investigate this further:

    1. Your Site Health information. You can use this form to share privately if preferred.
    2. Do you see any browser console errors on the same screen whereby you encounter this issue?

After sharing the above if you’d like to perform some troubleshooting steps to try and successfully complete the onboard wizard please follow the steps below:

    1. Install and activate the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin.
    2. Navigate to “Plugins > Health Check & Troubleshooting > Troubleshoot”.
    3. From the same screen click on the “Available Plugins” tab at the top right and then click on the “Enable” option next to “AMP”
    4. Attempt to follow the AMP plugins onboard wizard once more

You can exit troubleshooting mode afterwards.

Many thanks for sharing your Site Health information. From inspecting the details I don’t see anything obvious that may be causing this problem. Can you share if the same occurs when temporarily deactivating the AMP plugin?

I worked on it per your instructions on Saturday. Working okay now although still only 25 out of a possible 100 on Mobile Page Speed.

Great to hear that it’s working ok now. Based on your comments it sounds like you used the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin to successfully determine the cause. Can you share any comments or findings on what the issue was in your case?

only 25 out of a possible 100 on Mobile Page Speed.

I’m see a huge increase in performance on your AMP URLs. I suspect you may be referring to your non AMP URLs. You can check the below yourself using https://www.web.dev.
