Error in class-wp-widget-media-image.php

    This happens in the widget on the side bar:

    Warning: array_merge(): Argument #1 is not an array in /home1/alumnig4/public_html/wp-includes/widgets/class-wp-widget-media-image.php on line 62

    Warning: array_merge(): Argument #1 is not an array in /home1/alumnig4/public_html/wp-includes/widgets/class-wp-widget-media-image.php on line 200

    Warning: in_array() expects parameter 2 to be array, null given in /home1/alumnig4/public_html/wp-includes/widgets/class-wp-widget-media-image.php on line 200

    Does anyone else encounter the same issue? if yes, how to fix it? I don’t think this relates to any theme as the file is from the WordPress package.

    That is a core file, but the error is likely manifesting inside of it from a third-party element, or I suspect this wouldn’t be the first report I’ve seen.

    Try deactivating all plugins. If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

    If that does not resolve the issue, try switching to the Twenty Seventeen theme to rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

    Presumably there should be a way to trace/isolate the root cause? You mentioned theme could interfere it, can you elaborate?

    I often see suggestions like deactivate plugin one by one, honestly it looks like a less-smart solution.

    The solution of deactivating plugins one-by-one and ruling out the theme is exactly the “way to trace/isolate the root cause.”

    You often see it around here because it’s a safe, fast, and reliable way to troubleshoot problems, or at the very least a good first step.
