Using YOAST 19.2 and using twitter validator,
    Here’s what validator shows:

    INFO: Page fetched successfully
    INFO: 10 metatags were found
INFO: twitter:card = summary tag found
    INFO: Card loaded successfully

The card for your website will look a little something like this!
    Unable to render Card preview

All meta tags appear in place

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Same

I am also using Yoast 19.2 and have the same error, “Unable to render Card preview”

despite the Twitter card validator also saying:

    INFO: Page fetched successfully
    INFO: 27 metatags were found
    INFO: twitter:card = summary_large_image tag found
    INFO: Card loaded successfully
WARN: this card is redirected to https://www.thechurning.net/how-to-find-your-purpose-in-life/

If large image is found and card loaded successfully, then why is Twitter unable to render a preview? I don’t understand.

    Example URL being shared: https://wp.me/p67DJJ-1B2/

All help gratefully received, thank you

Same here – really getting sick of it now.

I’m having the same issue, I reached out to support and will be sending this thread so they know it’s a thing

    Hello All,

Thanks for reaching out regarding your Twitter cards; I am sorry it took a while to respond to this. Using the URL shared by Idigregorio, I can reproduce the issue when I checked with the Twitter card validator.

However, there seems to be a general error with the card validator Unable to render Card preview, which has been going on for a while. You can see more details about this here: https://twittercommunity.com/t/unable-to-render-card-preview/173566.

Also, Twitter and Facebook have been having issues with rendering the image and preview for the last couple of weeks within their debug tools. Upon checking the page source, the Yoast SEO plugin outputs the required twitter card. This shows that the Yoast SEO plugin outputs the right metadata, and it is a false flag from the card validator as it presently has some issues.

You do not have to do anything at the moment, but you can keep an eye on the forum to know when there will be a response from the Twitter support team.

    @maybellyne thanks for your reply.

I think there’s more here than just the broken card previews. Card previews seem to be broken for every site I try; but those sites will still render if we post them to Twitter (eg nytimes.com links like https://www.nytimes.com/2022/07/28/us/politics/manchin-schumer-climate-tax-deal.html)

But our site that uses Yoast neither renders in the validator NOR on Twitter.com.

Additionally could you comment on whether this change might be required in Yoast? It’s mentioned in the thread you linked as a solution and several people have said it fixed their issues: https://support.google.com/blogger/thread/170510968?hl=en#

I do strongly believe that Yoast needs to address this on their end, based on my reading.

Actually I think we were probably wrong… looks like we had Yoast a couple versions behind and it seems to work after updating.

Having same issue here. No solution found

    Reply from Twitter:

We’ve recently removed the preview functionality from the Card Validator. Previews are still available in the Tweet Composer and the Card Validator remains accessible for other debugging purposes (see below). We apologize for the confusion that this created for some developers and content creators. We know that the tool has historically been used to check how sites render when links are shared on Twitter; however, the display previews were not always aligned with the display of cards on Twitter…

Thank you @paulbuijs for mentioning that link here!

We’ll be closing this thread here as well. Thank you to everyone that chimed in.
