Here’s my story: I changed the name of my user account at the web server I’m using. Support there was very helpful, and all went without a hitch. I had to backup everything then upload it all again today – also without a hitch.

But then I go to review my wordpress blogs (several) and none of them are working. “Error Establishing Database Connection” and so forth.

So then I look at the config files to see what has changed. The databases are pointing towards the old, pre-backup name, so I change them to the new-and-improved name. Still receiving the same error.

Then I notice that there are now TWO SQL databases for each of the wordpress intalls. So there is a “wrdp2” and a “wrdp2gzkey” where there was only a “wrdp2” before. I think, why not? And change the name to the second option just to be sure things didn’t get mixed up. Still the same error code.

Now, I am no programmer, and although I understand WP fairly well I really don’t know PHP at all – so please be gentle with responses. I did do a search for this answer prior to posting, but came up empty. Maybe I missed the magic bullet, or perhaps it is something so inexplicably simple that, well, I’ll be embarassed.

    Here’s to hoping! ??
