    I finally got around to working on a site. Errs at index.html or any directory. I can’t FTP in due to server timeout. Host says login is correct. It’s been years since I used dos and don’t want to. I’d reinstall but can’t FTP in. Due to my amnesia I’m lost. Can I upgrade online and reset db info online?

    What version of PHP are you on right now?

    No idea

    Ok, would you please ask your hosting provider? As you mentioned, that does affect what plugins you’ll be able to use.

    Over emailed my host twice. Let me try again.

    Hm, I was hoping contacting them would be quicker/easier.

    Try creating a file called info.php in the same place as your WordPress files with this content:

    <?php

    // Show all information, defaults to INFO_ALL
    phpinfo();

    ?>

    Visit that in your browser and you’ll see what version of PHP you have.

    Host says 5.3 an error said I need 5.3. I’ll try activating again and will post.

    There should be one more decimal and at least one more digits after the 3, that will be very important.

    The last release of the 5.3 branch was 5.3.29.

    Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.
    Needs 5.3

    What’s the name of the plugin?

    There were two I’ve just deleted. Backup Guard and …not remembering. But in searching for plugins those were checked as compatible with my version.

    I installed three others fine and will test each on daily, email backup

    Excellent, sounds like you’re on the right path. ??
