• I have bluehost and I sell on my shop whimsicalprintables.com
I have encountered this “Error Establishing A Database Connection” since the start! It has gotten so bad now that literally for the last two hours I’ve been able to get to my dashboard twice! Only happens when i updated products or add new products. Bluehost is no help at all… it is always something different each time I’ve called and now they say there is nothing they can do?! I have adverstising on my site and am losing so much money because “they can’t do anything” any help would be great! I’m self taught so I don’t understand most of the technical terms… ??
I just want to be able to blog and sell and this is making it so difficult. Advice on another hosting company would be great too!! Thanks!

  • you need to check your database access details with Bluehost.

I had the same problem with my site before. I had a plugin that wasn’t accessing the database correctly which made it take much longer than it was supposed to.

Bluehost allows 15 mysql connections at a time. Normally this should be enough, but if you have a rogue plugin like I did it uses all of those. I would suggest looking at your slow mysql queries folder. I believe it is in /tmp/mysql_slow_queries on your account. I hope this helps!

@bhpress: It is impolite to interrupt another poster’s ongoing thread with a question of your own and it causes significant problems for the forum’s volunteers. Please post your own topic.

@esmi: The bhpress person did not interrupt and did not post their own problem. They only said they had a similar problem before and made suggestions for how the OP could fix the original problem.
