Error establishing a database connection – Problem

  • I am a very beginner of this world.

    I launched my site a few months ago but it was down with message of ‘Error establishing a database connection’

    How can I solve this problem? I am using AWS.

    Some people said I have to access wp-config.php. file. But I don’t even know how to do it.

    Thank you for your kind explanation in advance.

  • Well, you can access wp-config.php using either some FTP program like Filezilla or directly from within your cPanel (or an equivalent in AWS). If you have no FTP or cPanel credentials you’ll have to contact your hosting provider. Once there, you’ll have to compare the data (database username, name, prefix and password) with the database that was created for the installation and see if they match.
