Error establishing a database connection (Config file OK)

    Hi,

    My website is down and I have this error message !
    I know that everyting is correct in the wp-config.php because the site has worked for a long time (more than 1 year) and I didn’t change anything in this file or in the database.

    In fact, yesterday it was all good and this morning I was working on my website, just do a refresh and here we go …

    Here’s what I already did :

    1) Check and re-check the wp-config file
    2) Check if the database and the data server were online (and they are)
    3) Contact my host (OVH)(who told me to check the wp-config file)
    4) Check data in wp_options (on phpMyAdmin) and repair it
    5) Run a test_SQL.php (which is a script to see if the database is fine) (https://forum.ovh.com/showthread.php?p=382328&posted=1#post382328)

  • In my experience this is almost always a typo in the config file or the database is down. I would re-check everything one more time.

    Problem solved : I delete the old wp-config file and re-up a new one and it works ??

    I am using the OVH hosting also. I have contacted thier technical support for database host but it has not workrd for me. Can u please tell me what would be the database host?

    I also encountered the same problem, no change in the database but error while accessing the website.

    By FTP, just
    1. download the wp-config.php from the server,
    2. delete the wp-config on the server,
    3. upload wp-config.

    It worked for me ! Thanks.
