• I’ve seen this problem in a lot of google searches, it seems pretty common, hopefully one of you can help me out.

I was getting an error that said something about maybe the username and password is incorrect, etc. And no page of the blog would work, then I tried updating the wp-config.php file and now all i get is this message “Error establishing a database connection”. I’m using godaddy to host, by the way.

Somebody PLEASE help, I have no idea what to do.

P.S. I’ve seen tips about “change the username/password”….I have no idea what the right way to do this is, should I do it in wordpress, godaddy, the wp-config.php file itself? Please explain this in the simplest way to do it, I am not a php or database guy at all.

  • Hi,

Ask your hosting service provider to restart database services. Also make sure that you have used correct login details in wp-config.php file of your blog.

    Thanks,

    Shane G.

    Hi

You can’t use the default “localhost” as the DB_HOST with GoDaddy. They tell you in the database section of the control panel the hostname to use to connect with that database.

These changes get made in the wp-config.php file in the root folder of your WordPress install.
