Error establishing a database connection

  • Initially the design was on another host server,
    i backup the files and Restore it to another host server

    Formal database
    ‘metrocke_wp78’

    New database
    ‘metromeq_metrocke_wp78’

    and i have updated the “wp-config.php”
    yet given following error
    `Error establishing a database connection
    This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or that contact with the database server at localhost could not be established. This could mean your host’s database server is down.

    Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
    Are you sure you have typed the correct hostname?
    Are you sure the database server is running?
    If you are unsure what these terms mean you should probably contact your host. If you still need help you can always visit the WordPress Support Forums.`

    Please what next can i do?

  • Have you double checked everything? As in, are all the other things like the DB password and such correct? The database host still good?

    Yes i have
    but on the softaculous the database still reflecting old database
    And i tried to update it but given the following error:
    The following errors were found :

    The MySQL Username or Password or Database host is wrong as a connection could not be established.
    Allow Softaculous to fetch the database details ?
    *** I allowed the softaculous to fetch the database detail and yet there’s error

    I’m sorry, but I’m going to leave it to others in the forum since it’s going above my head.
    Since in this case, I’d contact my hosting company.

    You said you moved to a different server.

    1) Is the database host in your wp-config.php on the new server localhost?

    If not but it’s an IP address or some domain name, please check to be sure that you’ve provided the database host information (for the server) in the “Database host” section of wp-config.php file on the new site.

    2) You talked about the new database name, but how about the database user name?

    Again, since (you say) it’s a different server… please check to be sure that the database user configured in the wp-config.php file exists on the NEW server.

    3) If the database user exists, please check to confirm that the has the appropriate permissions on the new metromeq_metrocke_wp78 database you created.

    If you don’t know any of the details I mentioned above, please contact your NEW hosting provider for help.
