My site started displaying this error message when I try to access the control panel today:

    Error establishing a database connection.

This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at localhost. This could mean your host’s database server is down.
    * Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
    * Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
    * Are you sure that the database server is running?

When I try to access the front end of the site, it is getting an error message saying that it can’t connect to the database either.

I tried contacting my web host, and was told it was working fine on their end. I then tried accessing it using a proxy server, and sure enough, it was working. Why wouldn’t it be working on just my end?

    The site is https://freelanceflashgames.com/news/

  • hmmm….works for me, also
try clearing browser cache and site cookies

also, wp_options table may be crashing in the database
run a repair on it with host’s phpmyadmin

I’m not sure what was going on, but everything seems to be back to normal now. Thanks Samuel.
