Error: Email not sent. Could not instantiate mail function.

    Dear everyone who could help me with this,

    I’m helping some people out with organizing their symposium. People need to book via the website (www.symposiumND.be).

    I was changing the default emails. After a test these worked fine. But all over sudden the mailing function stopped working. Visitors get the error:
    Booking succesfull, pending confirmation (you will also receive an email once confirmed). However, there were some problsm whilst sending confirmation emails to you and/or the event contact person. You may want to contact them directly and letting them know of this error.

    Testing mail also doesn’t work:
    Email does not work.
    Could not instantiate mail function

    In other words: the bookings work fine, but people won’t receive the confirmation mails. Can someone help me with this?

  • Have you tried sending a test email using all the mailing sending options under Events > Settings > Emails > Email Settings?

    Which version of Events Manager are you using?

    Dear Caimin,

    Thanks for your rapid response!

    I’m using Version 5.5.5. I did indeed try to change the Email Settings, but nether WP Mail, Qmail, Sendmail, PHP mail function, SMTP works. The strange thing is that everything work fine in the beginning, but after changing the default messages and trying to subscribe myself a few times (each time with a different mailadress), it stop working.

    What could I have done wrong? How could I fix this?

    If you’re not able to send a test message with any of those mail methods it’s likley there’s a problem with your hosting set up. You might want to contact the support section of your hosting company.

    Thanks a lot. I’m trying to set up a new SMTP. I learned from the conversation “events manager not emailing” that this could be the way out of the problem. As soon as I managed to set this up, I’ll test it.

    Ok it’s done, but the problem isn’t solved. I can’t get the test mail sent. The host I’m using is one.com.

    I made and a mailaccount ([email protected]). As a test I tried to set up the account into my mac OS ‘mail’; Carefully following these instructions: https://www.one.com/en/support/guide/mail/setting-up-mail-os-x. Receiving emails was no problem, sending however I could only do after entering my password again. Could this be what went wrong?

    another way is to check with your host and make sure that emails are going out correctly? also, maybe you can try to use gmail/google account for smtp testing.
