Hi,

I noticed that when changing the status from processing to completed, a message appears on the order notes as below.

Error during status transition. Error on authentication

It happens on all kinds of orders , including COD and paid orders. I have seen this question elsewhere, and the answer pointed toward the payment gateway plugin issues. But I believe this is unrelated to a payment gateway as there is no issue when orders are being received, but only when changing the status to complete. I still don’t know whether it causes a problem. Nevertheless, this message appears.

On a side note, I use this custom snippet to email customers when an order is canceled. (by default, Woo doesn’t send emails to customers but just to admin). Not sure if this has any significance in the above issue, but I’m just pasting it here.

Hi there @icejo

Thank you for reaching out! From what I gather, the message appears on the site’s backend, while changing an order’s status from Processing to Completed. Correct?

I went ahead with testing this, on a test installation of mine, and I could not replicate the issue. Linked here is a screenshot with all the related order notes, after testing with changing the order’s status from the order list and with having its details open. With having selected the COD as a payment option.

Can you please perform a conflict test on your site and let us know of your findings?

Here are some steps you can follow:

The best way to determine if the issue is being caused by a theme and/or plugin is to:
1. Temporarily switch your theme to Storefront or Twenty Twenty theme.
2. Try to reproduce the problem: Check whether you still encounter the issue!
If the problem is resolved, it’s a theme conflict. If not, continue to the next steps.
1. Temporarily deactivate all plugins except WooCommerce. You can do this manually or use a plugin to help (see below for tools).
2. Try to reproduce the problem again. If the problem is resolved, it’s a plugin conflict. To figure out which plugin is causing the problem, continue to the next step.
3. Reactivate your other plugins one by one, testing after each, until you find the one causing conflict.
