Error downloading themes (tried different themes, even)

  • I installed a plugin today called CleanTalk Spam Protection. After that, the Ribosome Theme that I’ve been using for 3 months “broke” (error message said the theme was “broken”) so it reverted to the default theme (2016). I tried to download two other themes that were closer to what I need, but neither time (two attempts on one of them) would it complete the download, or should I say the UPLOAD from my computer to my WP site. Is is possibly the new plug in creating all the problems, or is there a firewall problem, or what? THANK YOU in advance for any help! Thanks!

    does the theme installation work again if you temporarily deactivate that plugin?

    Thank you, Michael. I’ve not only deactivated the plugin (plus one more I installed yesterday, as well), but even DELETED them, deleted the “broken theme” (it said the style sheet is missing now – after 3 months of using it), and even restarted my computer twice. And downloaded the Ribosome theme AGAIN, after deleting the “broken” one, and STILL, it will not allow me to complete the upload of ANY theme. So it’s “stuck” on the default 2016 theme. Ideas?
