Error, do not download the files in WordPress 6.1

I can confirm. Updated to WP 6.1 this morning – all downloads via this plugin stopped working. Causes a ‘address could not be resolved’ error in the browser. Restoring to WP 6.0 allows downloads to start working again.

Any suggestions for resolving this?

I have managed to work by deactivating the “Pretty URLs” option.

The same problem has happened to everyone, it would be great if someone finds a solution to this problem.

As the friend above said, turning off seo links for now works.

I am a user of this plugin.

I was debug code on my PC and I saw that the error occurs only when this option is active.

I can confirm that disabling the ‘Pretty Urls’ option allows downloads to work again.

As this is not ideal, I’ve attempted to debug further, but I cannot determine why the download fails. We reach the da_download_attachment function correctly, and filename and path are determined correctly – however the download fails when the fopen statement is made.

I’ve created an issue on GitHub here – please add comments and suggestions for solution if you are able – however, dFactory appears to have abandoned this plugin ??

I had the same problem, thank you for the solution of disabling pretty urls, though I would really like a solutions which works with pretty urls. Dfactory… ?

I don’t know the solution to this but I have noticed attachments with pretty urls still work in Apple Safari on both Mac OS and iOS.

In my site happend “critical error” when I updated server to php 8.1
With php 7.4 it works even with Pretty URLs. WP version is 6.1

I found that only deactivating the “URL Pretty” option do not fix the probem. The really problem is the tag [download-attachments] in the site.
If I delete that tag and unable option Display position “after” it works in php 8.1

The problem is that I have used [download-attachments] in my web-shop in about 100 product-site. Now I have to update about 100 product-site

Unfortunately the plugin is no longer supported for some time.

This plugin has been closed as of January 12, 2023 and is not available for download. Reason: Security Issue.
