    chrome

    Finding Your Browser’s Developer Console

So open the Google Chrome Developer Console and make sure you are on the Console tab (if not simply click the Console tab in the Developer Console window).

There may already be error messages visible there while navigating to the Security > Settings > NOTIFICATIONS path. If so please share those.

If not, simply reproduce the Default Recipients[user_list] must contain at least 1 item. error and monitor the Developer Console window for any new errors.

If any show up please share those.

I am not sure what you mean

Honestly, I am not sure how to read the developers info or it all means.

Ok, first the info displayed in the Developer Console. Yes, it can be overwhelming.
However it is possible to filter for errors only. Usually most output are warnings, but we are not interested in warnings. Just errors.

I don’t use Google Chrome (not even installed) so I’m a bit in the dark here, but it should be possible to filter for errors only. That should clear most of the output, thus making it much easier to focus on any (javascript) errors.

Trust me if there are any errors you’ll recognize them (usually color coded in red).

No need to interpret the errors. Just share them (if any show up).

The other thing is that so far I’m understanding that despite the fact that you are selecting a user (or role), clicking on the blue Save All button will display the reported error in your WordPress environment. (So the error does not get displayed as soon as just navigating to Security > Settings > NOTIFICATIONS page).

Now I can reproduce that very same error BUT only if I don’t tick any of the role/user checkboxes. But in that case the error is legit. You HAVE to tick at least one of the role/user checkboxes. Please confirm the above. Just want to make sure we are on the same page here.

    There are 3 checkpoints:

    1. Navigating to Security > Settings > NOTIFICATIONS page.

    2. Ticking any role/user checkbox.

    3. Clicking on the Save All button.

Any of the actions above could result in errors displayed in the Developer Console.

I checked in settings and discovered that my role was author so I changed that to administrator, which may be the issue, as there it no option to tick the author.

I did noticed that I had to press the SAVE ALL BUTTON several times and FINALLY it saved and the error went away.

    The settings are

    1. leave From email blank

    2. Set the default recipients for any admin-facing notifications: I choose All “Administrator” Users. And I am the only Administrator, so that works.

    Go Figure. Fixed now
