I got a problem backing up. I have followed the instructions, and I have reinstalled the plugin but still I get the same message. I have a different site, a test site, where I get the exact same issue.

I’m trying to upgrade to the latest version of WordPress but I can’t do it until I have a proper backup.

    Below is the error message.

    A database operation failed.
Please try reinstalling the plugin – in most cases this will repair the database.
Please contact support if the issue persists, providing the complete event log for the activity. Diagnostic information follows:

    Hi mrsbeata,

Sincere apologies for the issue. We were battling some issues with UTF-8 encoded files as they weren’t backing up properly. Recent updates improved it drastically but created some instances where the backup would completely fail (where before it would work or silently skip the file.)

Using the error message you gave we’ve reproduced it for your filename exactly. And we’ve fixed it.

It’s going through testing at the moment, more stringent than before as we now have test cases to ensure no regressions. Hopefully we’ll have the fix released by the end of today.

    Again, apologies for any inconvenience.

    Kind Regards,

    Jason

    Hi,

The fix is scheduled to be released tomorrow morning.

There is some maintenance happening on the server at the moment also which hadn’t completed properly on Friday. Should be all back up and running by 8PM I believe.

I’ll post again when the fix is released.

    Jason.

    Hello Driskell,

i’m facing the same issue on several instances of WP for which i have updated the plugin.

Thank you for your upcoming fix.

    Hi mrsbeata and emcyze,

2.2.11 has been released moments ago and should be available within the next hour. Please update and let us know if you continue to have issues.

It should fix all these issues with the insertions.

    Thanks,

    Jason

I updated the plugin yesterday and did a manual back up and it works.

    Thanks for the swift response.
