Error creating packages PHP 7x vs 8x mqsqldump

    We have 2 nearly identical hosting plans. Same server resources, same cPanel envionment, etc. Both using cPanel php v 8.2 with same PHP options & extensions enabled. However, one of these servers, we get Duplicator package creation error indicating switch to PHP backup method instead of the mysqldump. But when we switch that server to PHP v7.4 and use the Duplicator default settings for packages we have no errors at all and it creates new package very fast.

    Do you have any ideas why this could be?

    Is there any documentation that explains the optimal PHP version, options and extensions to have enabled for best performance of Duplicator? If not, please consider adding as a post on your knowledgebase website.

    p.s. we switched to the PHP file method and made backup no problem, but still would be interesting to learn why the issues above occurred.

    Thanks for reaching out to us.

    The PHP code method consumes less server memory compared to mysqldump, that is why mysqldump sometimes causes problems with websites that have lower allocated memory.

    To be able to use PHP 8 along with mysqldump, you need to increase the allocated memory to your website.
