    Good afternoon,

    I am trying to use the Regenerate Thumbnails plugin to regenerate some Media Library images one at a time.

    On many of the images, the plugin is working as expected. I click on the “Regenerate Thumbnails” button for an image, and it displays “currently registered thumbnail sizes, whether they exist for this attachment, and their filenames.”

    But for some of the images, when I click on the “Regenerate Thumbnails,” it says “Loading…” and then after a few seconds, refreshes the screen to say “ERROR: Could not read image size.”

    Here are a couple of examples of images which result in “ERROR: Could not read image size”:

    * https://s3-us-west-1.amazonaws.com/5mt.reformationopc.org/2018/03/2Q5B775123.jpg

    One of them is a 1.8 GB file. The other is a 1.3 GB file. Does file size make a difference?

    Update: I downloaded the two images, scaled them down to 960px wide, uploaded them to the WP Media Library, and tried Regenerate Thumbnails again.

    This time it worked and did not give an error.

    You server is almost certainly running out of memory when trying to load such large images.
